Blogging is Best for Generating Leads Online

Generating leads online has become very important now that people are flocking to the Internet to build their network marketing business. The best way to do online lead generation is with a blog.

You’ve heard it before. People join people, not business opportunities. With that in mind, the most important thing you need to do to generate online mlm leads is to let people get to know you. What things interest you? Why are you in network marketing? Why should they join your team? Your blog is going to answer those questions for your readers and hopefully turn them into leads.

A self-hosted WordPress blog is a great way to build an online presence so that people can find you. Let’s face it, if people can’t find you, then they can’t get to know you, and they won’t join your team. Google loves blogs because they are updated regularly, so you have a better chance of being found than if you had a static website. That means though that you do need to update it regularly. At least once a week if not more.

There is a lot of customization that can be done to a blog to make it a great place for people to come and learn about you. For now, just get your blog started. When you have done that, leave me a comment below and we can share other ideas about how to customize it. Remember, your intent is to let people get to know you. This is the best way to generate network marketing leads online. If you found this helpful, I would appreciate it if you would share this with your followers on the social networks.

Tip for Network Marketing Entrepreneurs

I have a big tip today for network marketing entrepreneurs who are working with companies that offer wellness-related products. Don’t make medical claims.

I am a massage therapist and have been working with a wellness network marketing company for several years. While I was in massage school my instructors very strongly cautioned us against making medical claims. We cannot diagnose conditions, treat conditions, cure conditions, or prescribe something for conditions. Those activities are all reserved for doctors by law. In other words, if we are caught diagnosing, treating, curing, or prescribing then we will be shut down.

The network marketing company I am with takes it one step further. We aren’t allowed to even mention a condition by name. They reluctantly let us to use the work “pain” because it is such a common word. They prefer us to use “discomfort”. I’ve heard of one doctor who is a distributor with this company who uses the word ” owie”. In case you are wondering, the Urban Dictionary defines “owie” as “a word commonly used by small children or infants to describe a wound”. I guess that needs to be updated to “a word commonly used by small children or infants or Nikken distributor doctors to describe a wound”.

Even doctors are careful to avoid medically reserved words when not acting as a doctor.

So, be careful of making medical claims when talking to your customers and prospects about your network marketing company’s wellness products.

Successful Network Marketers

Have you experienced the desperate network marketer? I’m sure you have. He’s the guy who runs up to you and just dumps his spiel on you, usually before he’s even introduced himself. On Twitter she’s the one who has the automated tweet about her opportunity that posts every 15 minutes or so. When you look at her posts, all you see is an endless list of the same message over and over. If you happen to friend one of them on Facebook then they will fill you inbox.

About the only thing you can be thankful for with these people is knowing that they will never succeed the way they are going and will eventually disappear. Or maybe they will change opportunities and vomit their new business on you. Their desperation is almost overpowering.

Fortunately not all network marketers are that way, although the desperate ones may make you think they must be. From my experience, the successful network marketers are not overbearing at all. I met two of the top earners in my company last year and you couldn’t meet nicer, more easy-going people.

The important thing to remember about network marketing is that it is a real business. The problem comes from the fact that most people in network marketing have never been trained on how to run a business. They then spend their time marketing their business opportunity to more people who also have never been trained. People are brought in with promises of getting rich quick while working from home. The stories they hear are about the people who are making $100,000 a month or became overnight successes.

One of the top earners that I mentioned a moment ago shared something with me when we met. Yes, he did start making a nice amount of money right away when he joined this company. He was able to do that because he had been in several other network marketing companies before and new a lot of people who were also experienced in network marketing. While he was success immediately with this company, he wasn’t immediately successful in network marketing. It takes time to learn how build a business and build a team of people who understand what they are doing.

Like I said, network marketing is a real business and it takes time to build one. You have to get the word out that your business exists. You have to cultivate prospects, leads, customers, and new distributors. You have to learn how to talk to people. When a new distributor joins the team, they have to be properly trained and you need to make sure that they have realistic expectations. They need to know that they probably aren’t going to become an Ultra Supreme Royal Diamond Whatever on their first day, their first month, or likely during their first year.

So, to be successful in network marketing you need to understand that you are building a business, that it will take time, and be comfortable with yourself and what you are doing. Desperation shows and will drive people away. It doesn’t present success.

Deciding – A Success Tip

The word “decide” literally means “to cut off”, so to make a decision about something means to cut off all other possibilities. When you decide something, you have chosen one path to the exclusion of all others.

It sometimes takes a lot of strength, willpower and courage to make a real decision and follow the course. A lot of people have very weak decision making muscles. They are constantly re-deciding their course of action.

I picture it like they are there weaving a tapestry. They make a decision and cut a thread, then the re-decide and try to tape the thread back together and cut a different one. Then change their mind again, and again, and again. It becomes a very weak tapestry in the end with all of the tape holding it together.

Sure, sometimes you do have to rethink your course of action because you get a new piece of information that you didn’t have before. These should be slight alterations in your path, not the radical changes that some people make.

I made a decision a couple years ago that I was going to build my future in network marketing with this particular wellness company that I learned about. That was a firm decision and all other possibilities were immediately eliminated. I started down that path and learned a lot as I went.

Then I made the decision that I was going to pursue that business online. I didn’t change my mind. I narrowed my focus down to eliminate more possible distractions. In October 2009 I further refined my decision and quit my job to focus on this exclusively. That also allowed my to reap some of the benefits that I was picturing with my new lifestyle, more time with my family. Let me tell you, it’s awesome.

In 4 years that decision has not changed.

What kinds of decisions have you made about your life? Decide what you want and go for it. Feel free to share your decisions in a comment below. I would also appreciate it if you would share this with your friends and followers on Twitter, Facebook, or wherever they are.

Where will You be in 5 Years?

That’s a popular question during job interviews and annual reviews. Where do you want to be in 5 years?

The way things have been going for the past year or so, many businesses just hope to still be around in 5 years.  A lot of them are downsizing right now trying to hold on, which leaves a lot of people out of working wondering how they are going to make ends meet.

There is one industry I know of that is expanding right now. Network marketing. The heck with trying to get a new job. That just puts you back in the same situation you were before you got let go, wondering when and if it’s going to happen again.

The thing is, this is the perfect time to get into network marketing, and not just because there are so many people looking for a job. People are also looking for better, more cost effective ways to stay healthy. People are looking for ways to be in control of their lives for the first time in a long time. The right network marketing business can offer than.

I’m with one company that is growing like wildfire right now, and it isn’t one of those fly-by-night businesses. This company is celebrating its 35 anniversary this year. It is in the wellness industry, so it may be the answer to some of the health issues you have been facing too.

There are a lot of MLM companies out there that claim that they offer the one key to good health, usually some form of nutritional supplement drink or energy drink. The truth is though, there isn’t just one key. What works for one person might not work for someone else. I only know of a small number of companies that offer a variety of solutions to increase the chances of having something that will work for nearly everyone.

I will be honest with you. Unlike what a lot of people try to tell you, network marketing probably isn’t going to get you rich over night. It might take several months, or even a year to start making some real money. A lot of people never make any real money, but that’s mostly because they give up after they see that it takes work to build a real business, and this is as real a business as running a restaurant. The benefit is that you don’t need a lot of money to start and you don’t have the huge overhead costs.

So, where will you be in 5 years? Working a job wondering day to day whether you will go back tomorrow, or building you own successful business?

For more information, find out about working with me.

How to Find Ideal MLM Prospects

Many people think it is hard to find ideal MLM prospects. In most cases, I think it is because they don’t know what an ideal MLM prospect is.

A couple days ago I had the opportunity to talk to a coach from Sharon Wilson’s Coaching from Spirit Institute. Beth, the coach, shared something with me that really made sense. You need to take some time and really think about who your ideal prospect is. Your prospect will probably be different than mine.

Take out a piece of paper and describe your ideal prospect in every detail that you can think of.

For example, here’s my ideal prospect: He or she is somewhere between 20 and 40 years old and comfortable with the internet. They are employed, or at least trained, in some form of complementary wellness care, like a massage therapist, chiropractor, or energy healer of some sort. For them, doing what they do isn’t as much about the money as it is about helping their clients have a significant shift in their health and wellness. They are also active on the internet with a blog where they share information that they find important, or have at least considered it a couple times.

Like I said, your prospect will be different from mine.

Now that you know who your prospect is you can figure out how to market your opportunity to them. Get to know that person and how they think. Where do they hang out? What kinds of websites do they visit regularly? What magazines or newspapers do they read? What kinds of articles do they read and what do they need? You get the idea. Once you know who you are trying to attract is a lot easier to customize your message to them.

If you found this helpful, share it with your friends and followers on Twitter and Facebook. I would also like to hear your thoughts in a comment.

Using Twitter and Tweet Deck

I listened to a webinar last night with Eric Goldstein about how to use Twitter. I want to take a few minutes to share some of the things I learned about Twitter lists and using TweetDeck to make life with Twitter easier.

First thing is Twitter lists. I remember them adding this feature and was excited to see on my profile that I’m listed 12 times, but I had no idea what it meant or how to use lists for any real benefit.

It turns out that it has a very nice benefit when added to TweetDeck. When you start following a LOT of people it becomes impossible to actively follow everyone, and you probably don’t really want to either. You can create lists for different categories of people you follow so that you can keep a better tab on what is going on.

For example, if I want to keep up with some people that I meet on the Unified Tribe, I can create a list for that purpose. I go into Twitter (assuming that it isn’t “over capacity”) and find one of the Unified Tribe friends. I then clicked on the Lists button on the line below their picture and selected “New List”. In the new dialog box I entered a name and description for my new list, made sure that “Public” was selected, then clicked “Create list”. My new friend is automatically added to my new list. Now I can go find other Unified Tribe people I am following and add them to this list by selecting it from the Lists drop down. I’ll talk about how this makes things really convenient with TweetDeck in a moment.

I like TweetDeck and have used it for a while. It is a convenient way to keep up with tweets from the people I am following, tweets that mention me (which are always cool), and direct messages. What I didn’t know is that you can create additional columns to sort your tweets out.

I can create a new column in TweetDeck to follow only the tweets from people who are on the list I just created. If you haven’t installed TweetDeck, then you will need to do that first. It is a stand-alone application on your desktop. Once you are in TweetDeck you will see the default columns for the things I already mentioned plus an additional one for TweetDeck Recommends. At the very top of the application is a circle with a plus in it. Click it to add a new column. In the new dialog box, select “Groups/Lists” then select your new list. Back in the main application you now see a new column with the recent tweets from the people in that list and you can easily keep up with what they are doing.

Another Twitter feature that Eric Goldstein stressed was it’s search utility. You can use TweetDeck to continuously run a Twitter Search and monitor the feed. In TweetDeck click the button to add another column. This time select “Search” and type you search string in the text box. I’m involved in network marketing, so I’ll type “Network Marketing” (including the quotes because I want the phrase, not the individual words) and click “Search”. Now I have a new column that lets me see what people are saying about network marketing.

The short version is that TweetDeck makes it very easy to use Twitter’s features and stay plugged in with what you want to know.

I would appreciate it if you would share this with your friends and followers. I’d also love to hear your thoughts in a comment below.

Nikken, Why I Got Started

There are literally a ton of network marketing companies out there, at least one that is perfect for anyone who wants to get involved in building their own business. So, why did I choose Nikken?

When I was introduced to Nikken I wasn’t looking for a network marketing business. I didn’t really know what network marketing was although I had of course heard Tupperware, Amway, Avon, and a few others. I had just finished massage school, which I started because I was in an IT job that I absolutely could not stand. Before I finished massage school I quit that job and started a new one that was a lot better, which is good because it takes a while to start up a business.

My wife and I were going to start a massage business because we wanted to do something that really helped people. I also wanted control of my own life. I wanted to set my own hours and work when I wanted to because I had two small kids that I wanted to help raise.

Anyway, I had just finished massage school and read in a book that people should sleep on a magnetic mattress pad. I asked a massage therapist, Greg, that my wife worked with ( he specialized in energy healing ) what he knew about magnets.  He responded by inviting us to a meeting at someone else’s house that weekend. Having no idea what we were in for, we went. It was a Wellness Home Preview, which is what Nikken people call their in-home opportunity meetings.

Nikken is all about magnets, sleep, water filtration, air filtration, nutritional supplements, and the like. It immediately made sense to have a product line that complemented the service we were going to offer our clients. Also, it turns out that massage is very time and labor intensive. To make a reasonable income I still wasn’t going to have the time freedom that I wanted. I saw that network marketing could offer what I wanted if I could figure out how to make it work for me.

After that meeting we borrowed a magnetic mattress pad and a magnetic necklace and used them for a week. Neither my wife nor I had any big sleep problems but we thought we should try it out and see what happened. I found the pad very firm but I fell asleep immediately and had the best night’s sleep I’d had in a long time. I liked it.

We returned the mattress pad and necklace, then joined the ranks of Nikken distributors. For the first two years we were effectively wholesale customers as we used the product but didn’t do much with the business. I guess that made us typical network marketers. Then we were ready to do the business.

We have decided to stick with Nikken for a number of reasons. Most important to me is to have the time to spend with my family and the freedom to move that time anywhere in the day when something comes up for us to do together. Any network marketing business will provide that freedom, especially when you learn to do it online.

If you remember, we wanted to start a massage business because we wanted to help people. There are many MLM companies in the wellness field, but most of them only offer some form of nutritional supplement or energy drink. We have learned through our on-going studying that wellness is a whole lot more than the amount of nutrition that enters the mouth. All of the systems in the body have to work properly. In addition to good nutrition it requires hydration, pH balance, relaxation, muscle movement, good sleep, and the ability to effectively handle invaders. Nikken talks about the Wellness Home because our environment is a big influence on our wellness. What it really comes down to is the environment that each individual cell lives in that determines our overall wellness. Unlike most of the other companies I’ve seen, Nikken understands that and has products that address most of those areas.

So, there you have it. I’m in network marketing because it allows me the time to be with my family. I’m with Nikken because they understand wellness and provide the technologies to address much more than just one aspect of it. It allows me to take good care of myself and my family, and I can help other people.

Mike Klingler Understands Internet Marketing

Mike Klingler hosted an amazing webinar last month about how to create a marketing funnel for people involved in Internet Marketing. He is one of the very few people I have seen involved in Internet Marketing who understands both the importance of a marketing funnel and how to put one together to so that it actually generates income.

If you are marketing a business online, whether it is a traditional, affiliate, or MLM business, then  you really need to check out his Market Funnel Mastery course that he is teach over the next several months. He has extended his special offer of giving it away to people who join Renegade Professional for the next few days. If you are just getting started with online marketing or need some help to get it going, you will find the training in Renegade Professional very helpful.

I’ve studied Loral Langemeier’s books and courses for a while and attended some of her live seminars. One of the big points that she teaches is the need for a marketing funnel, or a sales funnel, depending on what you want to call it. Either way, the idea is to interest your prospect with a free or low-cost item to get them into the funnel. Then, through building a trusting relationship with them, you can upsell them to your more expensive products and services. Loral teaches that if you don’t have a sales funnel then you don’t really have a business. This is especially true for Internet Marketers and Mike Klingler gets it. He’s been working this model for a few years now, so this isn’t just some textbook teaching, this is his real life experience.

If you know who Diyana (Didi) Alcheva is, she says this training will shave two years off your learning curve and significantly speed up your business success. Mike Klingler himself calls this training “epic” and that it is the best, most significant training that he has ever put together, and it’s free.

Get it before it’s too late! I’m glad I did.

Nikken’s 35th Anniversary

This year marks Nikken’s 35th Anniversary and they are going to celebrate it in style. The convention in October this year is going to be an international convention inviting distributors from all 40+ countries that Nikken is current operating in. This gives us a unique opportunity to meet distributors from other countries as well as from the US and Canada.

Another new thing with the convention this year is that they are not selling any tickets. The only way to get tickets is to win them. This makes now a great time for anyone who has been thinking about starting a Nikken distributorship to go ahead and do it.

First, about the convention. It will be at the Aventura Spa Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico from October 14 – 17. For those who qualify, Nikken is paying for 4 days and 3 nights for 2 people. They are covering all meals and beverages, transfers to and from the airport, and all taxes and gratuities at the resort. Each room also receives a $300 credit for golf and/or spa treatments.

How to get there. For new consultants who join during the qualification period, which is from now until July 31, they need to reach Silver rank and earn 30,000 PGV. If they earn an additional 10,000 PGV ( 40,000 total) they will also receive $300 toward their airfare. What’s more, it is possible to do it all this month (April). For the month of April Nikken is awarding double PV toward qualifying for the contest. That means that if a new consultant reaches Silver in April, earning 20,000 PGV, then they have a full 40,000 for the contest.

Click here for more information about how to become a Silver distributor with Nikken and to get started winning your trip to Mexico on Nikken’s dime.
