Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a very simple way to make money online either through your website or emails.  Like network marketing, affiliate marketing allows you to make money with other peoples’ products, and it is even easier to get started with affiliate marketing than with network marketing.  It is usually free to sign up and they provide you with marketing materials, such as text and banner links to place on your webpages or emails.  They will sometimes give you sales copy that you can use to create an email to send to your list of contacts.

Once you have successfully joined an affiliate program you will be assigned an affilate id that will be used to track all of your referrals.  It will usually look something like “http://www.mysite.com?aid=12345″ where “12345″ is you affiliate id.  In the back-office that you have access to, you will be able to view reports that show you how much traffic you sent to the site.  They might show the number of clicks, impressions, sales pending, and sales completed.  You will usually receive your payment the following month after they have been paid by the buyer’s credit card company.

Your success in affiliate marketing depends heavily on how much traffic you get to your website and the how much in alignment you website and the affiliate program are.  For example, if your website is about pet grooming and the affiliate program is a Bob Proctor personal growth program, you probably won’t be very successful because the visitors to your site aren’t looking for personal growth.  On the other hand, if your site is about personal growth, like one of mine, then you should probably have links to 2 or 3 good affiliate programs.
